Our pelvic health physiotherapist Megan treats pelvic pain and continence issues in both Men and Women. Yes Men, you do have a pelvic floor and 1 in 8 men will suffer incontinence at some point in their life! When the pelvic floor is not functioning correctly you may experience any of the following symptoms
- Issues with bladder and bowel continence including leakage, constipation, difficulty emptying, dribbling a little after urination, or frequently going to the toilet
- Pain anywhere in the pelvic region including the genitals, anus or lower abdomen
- Issues with sexual function
- Any abnormal sensations in the pelvis that have been cleared of medical causes such as itching or burning
Additionally, studies have shown benefit in overall recovery time and post-operative bladder issues in Men following prostate surgery if they have physiotherapy input.
At Physiologix we have an ultrasound machine which enables both you and the physio to see if you are doing correct contraction of the pelvic floor muscles, which benefits all of the problems described above.
